Business Development Support Specialist

As a Business Development Support Specialist, you will be responsible for all aspects of business to business customer support and order processing. This includes everything from working with important customers to processing large and complex custom orders. You must be able to think quickly, often solving problems as they arise. You will need to collaborate with Customer Service and Fulfillment to resolve customer issues in a timely fashion.
The Business Services and Development Team is responsible for fostering the Company’s largest Business and Customer Relationships. We are looking for a team member that is well-organized and has a creative mindset that helps problem-solve and come up with unique solutions to issues.
The responsibilities fall within two primary areas:
- Customer Service – Facilitate the customer experience for Select Customers at a high level
- Work with important Customers day-to-day. Respond in a timely and professional manner
- Resolve issues as needed to maintain/build upon the relationship
- Identify new and larger opportunities with Customers. Convert requests into feasible and profitable orders (such as suggesting a different, more viable product/solution)
- Quote and provide samples
- Partner with the Customer Service Department to help ensure a smooth experience for Customers between the two departments. (Every interaction of the Company with Select Customers need not be with the BSD Team directly.)
- As needed, conduct reviews with Select Customers to help grow the relationship, gather feedback, and make sure that the relationship is continuing to be beneficial for both the Customer and the Company
- Order Management – Help envision and create capabilities to follow through on customer commitments with white glove service
- Process large/complex/specialty orders
- Work with Tech and Marketing to improve the Customer experience for online orders including setting up and maintaining Company Portals
- Process orders offline as needed when processing an order online is not viable
- Work with Operations to help ensure orders are completed with quality and meet delivery expectations
- Work with Accounting to setup new Customer Accounts and coordinate payment (larger orders may require upfront payment)
- Understand the full lifecycle of orders from the initial Customer interaction through to Customer feedback at the end of the process
In a specialist role, the Business Services and Development Assistant will have the opportunity to assist in many, if not most, of the core responsibilities of the department described above. However, some key requirements for the position are described below:
- The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator that manages email responses effectively.
- Advanced customer service skills, proper grammar, and effective use of professional language and tone. (Experience with luxury retail or similar clientele preferred)
- The ability to handle detail-oriented tasks to successful completion. (Verify accuracy of one’s own work.)
- Be willing to assist in other areas as necessary to support Select Customers that may not be described above. As an example, helping in the assembly of an order to meet a deadline.
- Previous experience using graphic design software is not required. However, the ability to learn to process artwork using graphic design software is necessary, as this is a core responsibility for this role.
